At GUA•QUYE we embrace openScience and open tools to make things happen! We take these concepts very seriously and work 100% with this mindset. Consequently, our website was build using tools like R statistic language and GitLab, and it is been constantly improved using other opensource tools like GIMP, Inkscape, everything running on the amazing GNU/Linux (Fedora).

More over, our projects embrace the use of technology and the IoT concepts to bring some upgrades to rural areas in Colombia. Here you can find some of the options we are currently using and that are available for everyone! We will be updating this regularly to share new possibilities with you!

Open Science

Open science is a set of principles and practices that aim to make scientific research from all fields accessible to everyone for the benefits of scientists and society as a whole. Open science is about making sure not only that scientific knowledge is accessible but also that the production of that knowledge itself is inclusive, equitable and sustainable.

PlantNet

Pl@ntNet is a tool to help to identify plants with pictures. It is organized in different thematic and geographical floras. As a citizen science project, it is available as an app that helps you identify plants thanks to your pictures. You can find GUA·QUYE as a contributer of this great project!

BirdNet

BirdNet has given us the possibility to get an idea of the birds associated to our work!. This is amazing since we have a way to see the positive impact we bring to the environment we work on. Is another way to embrace a new kind of knowledge an an open window to support our projects!

eBird

eBird is among the world’s largest biodiversity-related science projects, with more than 100 million bird sightings contributed annually by eBirders around the world and an average participation growth rate of approximately 20% year over year. A collaborative enterprise with hundreds of partner organizations, thousands of regional experts, and hundreds of thousands of users, eBird is managed by the Cornell Lab of Ornithology.

OBS Studio

OBS Studio is a free and open source software for video recording and live streaming available on GNU/Linux, macOS, and Windows. It is a very intuitive tool to use and there are plenty of video-tutorials to follow in order to become an expert. We have created our first tutorial using this software and we still learning to improve!.
